E-Cigarette Battery Problems? 3 Tips to Boost Performance

best-performance-ecigarette-batteryRemember the days when everything ran on AA, C and D batteries? You’d replace the batteries in your device (which normally required up to 6 to run) and then within a day your device would drain all of the power and you’d need to replace the batteries again.

It was expensive, created a lot of waste and was frankly, really annoying!

Battery technology has sure come a long way since then. Most devices now come with rechargeable long lasting lithium-ion polymer batteries, so that you don’t need to continue buying new batteries just to use your device.

They’re also much better for the environment, because they keep used batteries from being thrown into landfills – contributing to much less waste.

Lithium-ion polymer batteries are among the longest lasting batteries available and are used by the majority of electronics companies today – including Green Smoke®.

These batteries are long lasting in terms of the length of time they will power your device on a single charge, and long lasting because of the number of charges you’ll get from the battery. For example, you can get 400+ charges from a single Green Smoke® battery, and you can get up to 400 puffs on each charge.

That being said, there are a number of things you can do to ensure that you get the optimal battery life from your batteries. Here are 3 tips to get the best performance from your battery:

  1. Use the battery regularly: Lithium-ion batteries are designed to be used for daily devices. That’s why they’re used for phones and electronic cigarettes. The more you use them, the more the power in the cells flow, which keeps the battery in proper working order.
  2. Take care of your battery: This should be a given, but keep it away from heat, don’t let it get wet and protect the battery from impact. Yes, we’ve heard plenty of stories of people dropping our cigarettes from 6 story buildings and putting them in the washing machines and the batteries still working fine afterwards – but it’s not something that we recommend doing if you want to ensure a long life from your battery. Don’t test the limits of your e-cigarette just because it’s solidly built.
  3. Charge the battery before its fully drained: When you start to feel the battery’s pull getting a little weak, switch to a backup. You will significantly increase the battery’s life by charging it before it’s fully drained.
Think of it like a train. It’s much easier to increase the speed of a slow moving train than to get a stationary train moving.
It’s the same with the battery. The battery uses much less energy when there is a little power left than when there’s no power left when you charge it.

We could go on with a list of other battery tips (like not storing it with less than a 50% charge, unscrewing the cartomizer when you won’t be using the battery for a while, and unscrewing it when it’s done charging), but these 3 care tips will go a long way to keeping your battery in great shape so you can enjoy vaping for a long time.

If for whatever reason your Green Smoke® battery does stop working properly, we offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty and will gladly replace it free of charge.

I got my green smoke kit awhile back and have only used the short battery. Just today I charged the long battery (until I couldn’t see the red any more)and it isn’t working. What have I done wrong? I really want to start using it. Please advise.
    Thanks, Connie

Hi Connie, it sounds like you charged it correctly. The light on the charger should change from red to green when the battery is fully charged. Try one more time and if you have no luck, you’re battery is still under warranty. Simply call our customer service and they’ll replace it for you.

I just got my first greensmoke kit. When I plug in one of my batteries, the red light just keeps flashing. The others show a steady light. Is there something wrong?

  5. gavin says:

Hi Christina, please contact our customer service department at 877-473-3676 and they’ll be happy to assist you.

Sometimes a little grit can get into the battery at the connection point. I usually give it a quick wipe out with a piece of tissue and something narrow but blunt such as a straw and it does the trick for me. I’d imagine a dry cotton bud would work just as well, but that is usually the cause of a charged battery not working.

I have 2 short batteries and they both seem to be clogged. What can I do to increase the air flow through the battery?

  8. gavin says:

It’s common for dust and dirt to get into the holes at the tip of the battery. You can blow into the battery (from the end that connects to the cartomizer) and you can try cleaning the tip (a toothbrush will work well for this).
If it’s still not working after that, contact our CS and they should be able to replace it for you.

Gavin, thanks for the tip about using a toothbrush on the tip,it has just cured the problem i had in both my batterys.Happy vaping again, thanks.

  10. Roberta says:

The instructions should say when the “charger” light turns green because I didn’t know if it was charged when the battery light or the charger light was green.
