Halloween Activities – Not for Kids Only!

Halloween Activities

Okay. For decades, Halloween has been celebrated as a kiddie holiday – replete with fun costumes, trick-or-treating, plus children-oriented games and party ideas. No longer. From the US to Great Britain to Japan, trends show that more and more adults are getting in on the action with their own adult-themed Halloween activities, parties, costumes, games, and treats! In fact, according to a CNN article published last year, adult costume sales in Britain had increased almost 700%!

So here are a few tips for those of you adults who plan on having a devilish, and grown-up fun, Halloween this year:

Treat yourself to the fancy stuff Hey, you’re all grown up now, and you’ve paid your dues. So chuck those dollar-store candies and fill your adult treat bag with chocolate-covered bats, skulls, and eyeballs from the finest chocolatiers in town. Why not? True, sugar is sugar. But best-quality chocolate and a classy, elegant presentation make all the difference between kiddie treat and grown-up pleasure.

Thrill to “Thriller”

Zombie movies are all the rage now, but way back in the early eighties, Michael Jackson created the most popular music video of all time featuring, you got it, zombies. Still very popular today, the 10-minute video is played in many a Halloween party and promises to get you in the mood for the spooky holiday. Not to mention get you and other party-partners to start dancing the night away.

Host a hair-raising happening

For the yet undiscovered party planners among you, here’s your chance to “start your career!” Plan a fun and festive Halloween party for your friends. Make sure everything – from decorations to menus to contests and games – are all geared to grown-ups. Decide whether or not costumes should be worn.

Send out your invites early enough so childcare and other arrangements can be made. You may want to get your guests in the mood with this Halloween-themed martini!

Visit a haunted city

Okay, this is not exactly a social calendar staple. But visiting these places will not only put you in a Halloween frame of mind; it’ll give you some history lessons as well. From Savannah, Georgia’s Revolutionary War battlegrounds…to Salem, Massachusetts’ (home of the Salem Witch Trial) Gallows Hill…to New Orleans’ voodoo spell…to San Francisco’s Chinatown ghost tours and Alcatraz’s haunting prison cell blocks…you’re in for a scary adventure!

Have a spooky movie night
