So you’ve returned from your awesome vacation with a slew of pictures, videos and memories of you and your family doing awesome things.
That was Saturday.
Now it’s Monday.
The alarm clock goes off at 6:30 and you drag yourself out of bed. Get dressed. Eat breakfast. Get to work.
Drudge.
It looks like you’ve been hit with the post-vacation blues.
Don’t feel bad though, 56% of all vacationers experience the blues when they return to work after their relaxing, awesome vacation.
Many feel bad about returning to work, many feel blue about getting back to their routine. Many even feel exhausted and depressed.
Sigh…
But the good news is that there’s an easy way around the post-vacation blues, and that’s to do things you enjoy the rest of the year when you’re not on vacation.
Here’s a breakdown of what people do upon their return from their vacation to boost their post-vacation spirits (according to a BBC poll), and add some extra “vacation” into their lives:
- 19% take weekend breaks. Whether you rent a cabin in the woods, go camping by the lake, rent a local hotel room or even just stay home, there are a ton of things you can do in your immediate area that will bring you all of the benefits of going on vacation without having to break the bank or use up any vacation days. Think of them as “mini vacations” that you take throughout the year.
- 23% cook meals they enjoy. Were you served an awesome pasta dish while you were on vacation in Florida? Ask the waiter for the name of the dish, and when you get home look online for a similar recipe. You’ll be surprised at how easy many of these “fancy” dishes are to make. Set aside an extra hour for cooking on the weekend, or even during the week, and serve the perfect dish to help you reminisce about your awesome vacation.
- 34% relive their past vacations by looking at photo albums. Pull out those photo albums and have everyone gather around. Looking at vacation photos is a great way for people to bring up old stories. Stories that will bring fond memories for everyone who was involved. Before you know it 2 hours of quality time will have gone by. That sure beats having the family sit around the TV and not talking!
- 74% immediately start planning the next vacation. Yeah I know what you’re thinking, you just got back from your vacation and your tan line hasn’t even worn away yet. Why would anyone be thinking about what they’re going to do next year?
The truth is it’s not a bad idea. The more time you have to plan something, the more likely you’ll be able to make the best choices for that vacation. It will give you time to do thorough research and studies have shown that planning the vacation can be just an enjoyable as going on vacation.
So keep that in mind if you ever start to experience the post-vacation blues. Don’t fret about how much time there is until your next vacation. There are thing you can do now that you’ll also enjoy. Life is about enjoyment, and not just enjoyment 2 weeks out of the year when you’re on vacation.
That’s my report for today. Use it wisely.
We’re Sponsoring TJ Bell In This Years Coca Cola 600 NASCAR Race
We’re proud to announce that for the 2nd year in a row, we’ll be sponsoring TJ Bell in NASCAR’s longest, most grueling race, the Coca Cola 600.
We’re very excited to be sponsoring TJ again. He’s one of NASCAR’s rising stars and is coming off a phenomenal rookie season (he was even in the running for the NASCAR Rookie of the Year Award last year).
So be sure to tune into FOX on Sunday May 27 to watch TJ Bell drive the Green Smoke #32 Ford Fusion in the biggest and most grueling races of the year, the Coca Cola 600.
And be sure to check out the Green Smoke Racing site so that you can stay updated on everything that’s happening!
Recap of the 2011 Racing Season
It’s no surprise that e-cigarette companies want a slice of the NASCAR pie. Cigarettes have long been a tradition at NASCAR and what’s now called the Sprint Cup Series, for decades was known as the Winston Cup Series.
Last year Green Smoke made history when we announced our sponsorship of TJ Bell. This year we’re preparing to do some even bigger and better things, and the first will be sponsoring TJ in the Coca Cola 600 (don’t worry, he’s already qualified.)
So why is this significant?
Because electronic cigarettes bring back the roots of NASCAR – and fans can sit back in the stands and enjoy their cigarette while watching the race once again.
Traditional cigarettes have been banned from NASCAR races since 2003 and Winston lost the rights to the name of the Cup Series. Since then smokers have been out of luck when they go to a NASCAR race.
But with the introduction of electronic cigarettes, smokers are once again able to enjoy the rich cigarette flavor they expect and deserve without having to miss even one second of the race.
The reason smokers can smoke at NASCAR events is because Green Smoke electronic cigarettes emit no cigarette odor, and therefore don’t apply to many smoking bans.

Going on Vacation is Only Half The Fun (Infographic)

Get ready, summer’s fast approaching and will be here before you know it.
It’s the time for relaxing. The time for recharging. The time for getting out of your routine and doing something different!
There’s only one word that sums that up…vacation!
There’s no doubt about it, people love going on vacation. It’s one of the things that they look forward to every year.
But new data released in a BBC study actually shows that in addition to the actual vacation, people really start enjoying their vacation long before they arrive at their destination.
In fact, 63% of the happiness people experience from their vacation comes before they even arrive to their vacation spot.
Take the Joneses (made-up character family). They live in Minnesota and are planning a 2 week long vacation to southern California.
During the 2 months before they arrive in California, they’re researching attractions, restaurants, hotels, car rentals, and a number of other things that they can do on their vacation.
Even though they’re not actually on their vacation, they’ve started feeling the anticipation and excitement of what they’re going to do and see. They are actually experiencing the benefits of their vacation, even before they go on it!
A brief breakdown of where some of this happiness goes:
- 14% traveling to the vacation destination
- 14% researching and booking everything
- 9% the week before the departure date
- 4% pre-holiday shopping
So as the summer months approach and you’re planning your vacation, the actual act of planning the vacation is really all part of the fun.
In fact you don’t need to even use any vacation days to go on vacation. The days leading up to contribute to your vacation enjoyment, and you could enjoy the benefits of being on vacation for more than 2 months out of the year!
So keep that mind as you plan the next vacation. Planning is more than half the fun! (well, almost)
And the Most Littered Item in the United States is…
Last year more than 287 billion cigarettes were sold in the United States.
Smokers smoked each one and then discarded the cigarettes butts in ashtrays and garbage cans.
At least most did.
Many flick them in the most convenient location they find, which includes sidewalks, beaches, parks and many public areas.
According to Keep America Beautiful, a non-profit committed improving the environment, cigarettes butts make up 32% of all litter in the country. On top of that 65% of all tobacco products are not disposed of properly.
Littering cigarette butts bring a number of harmful side effects including:
- They’re extremely difficult to clean up. Due to their small size, cigarette butts can be extremely difficult to clean up. Particularly if there are a lot of them. Volunteers who clean up litter will most likely not see the cigarette butts and even if they do start picking them up, their size makes it almost impossible to get all of them.
- Unsightly. Typically when smokers finish their cigarettes they discard them wherever they find an open area. While this isolated disposal won’t degrade the beautify of an area, if 200 smokers come and do the same thing, it will quickly make it easy to only see the cigarette butts and completely miss the forest.
- Harmful to waterways and wildlife. Discarded cigarette butts don’t stay where they are. In fact, in a very short period of time the chemicals from the butt can very easily be washed away in the rain, become attached to someone’s shoe or car wheel, or be eaten by an animal. If the butt gets washed into a river it can get washed up somewhere 50 miles away in only a few days. The chemicals in these butts then get into the water that people and animals drink from, and into the fields that we irrigate with this water. Over time these chemical can cause a host of other problems.
So what’s a smoker to do?
The first thing is to be aware that one cigarette might be insignificant, but over time a large number of butts can cause massive amounts of damage.
The best option would be to make sure you dispose of your cigarette butt properly in either an ashtray or a garbage can. (If you’re throwing it into a garbage can it is extremely important to make sure that the cigarette is completely extinguished first to eliminate the risk of starting a fire.)
You can also pick up a portable pocket ashtray for a few bucks on Amazon. These ashtrays are extremely portable, easy to clean and seal in any smell – so you don’t need to worry about your pocket reeking of cigarette smoke. And you can take them anywhere. Instead of discarding your cigarette anywhere you have a great way to discard it – without any risk to the environment.
E-Cigarette Battery Problems? 3 Tips to Boost Performance
Remember the days when everything ran on AA, C and D batteries? You’d replace the batteries in your device (which normally required up to 6 to run) and then within a day your device would drain all of the power and you’d need to replace the batteries again.
It was expensive, created a lot of waste and was frankly, really annoying!
Battery technology has sure come a long way since then. Most devices now come with rechargeable long lasting lithium-ion polymer batteries, so that you don’t need to continue buying new batteries just to use your device.
They’re also much better for the environment, because they keep used batteries from being thrown into landfills – contributing to much less waste.
Lithium-ion polymer batteries are among the longest lasting batteries available and are used by the majority of electronics companies today – including Green Smoke®.
These batteries are long lasting in terms of the length of time they will power your device on a single charge, and long lasting because of the number of charges you’ll get from the battery. For example, you can get 400+ charges from a single Green Smoke® battery, and you can get up to 400 puffs on each charge.
That being said, there are a number of things you can do to ensure that you get the optimal battery life from your batteries. Here are 3 tips to get the best performance from your battery:
- Use the battery regularly: Lithium-ion batteries are designed to be used for daily devices. That’s why they’re used for phones and electronic cigarettes. The more you use them, the more the power in the cells flow, which keeps the battery in proper working order.
- Take care of your battery: This should be a given, but keep it away from heat, don’t let it get wet and protect the battery from impact. Yes, we’ve heard plenty of stories of people dropping our cigarettes from 6 story buildings and putting them in the washing machines and the batteries still working fine afterwards – but it’s not something that we recommend doing if you want to ensure a long life from your battery. Don’t test the limits of your e-cigarette just because it’s solidly built.
- Charge the battery before its fully drained: When you start to feel the battery’s pull getting a little weak, switch to a backup. You will significantly increase the battery’s life by charging it before it’s fully drained.
Think of it like a train. It’s much easier to increase the speed of a slow moving train than to get a stationary train moving.
It’s the same with the battery. The battery uses much less energy when there is a little power left than when there’s no power left when you charge it.
We could go on with a list of other battery tips (like not storing it with less than a 50% charge, unscrewing the cartomizer when you won’t be using the battery for a while, and unscrewing it when it’s done charging), but these 3 care tips will go a long way to keeping your battery in great shape so you can enjoy vaping for a long time.
If for whatever reason your Green Smoke® battery does stop working properly, we offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty and will gladly replace it free of charge.
How to Boost Your Productivity While Smoking

Smokers go through a lot.
They can’t ride on public transportation with their cigarette
They can’t go into a restaurant with their cigarette.
They can’t go into a bar with their cigarette.
And of course they can’t work in the office with their cigarette. They need to exit the building and smoke outside.
A new study from an e-cigarette supplier in the UK asked nearly 500 smokers how much time they spent a day smoking.
30% said more than an hour.
That translates into about 200 hours a year – 5 working weeks!
And that was only for the “typical” smoker. 1 out of the 12 people polled was labeled a “heavy” smoker. This means they smoked at least 30 cigarettes a day, which translates into about 2 and half hours of day smoking.
That comes out to more than 14 weeks a year!
Imagine what an extra 5 weeks (or 14 weeks) of time would do to your career.
You could start an extra project that might give you a promotion and a raise.
You could get your work done more quickly and efficiently, potentially earning you a promotion and a raise.
You would be at your desk more, giving the impression that you’re working hard and and are more deserving of that promotion and raise.
See what I mean?
The answer is electronic cigarettes. What if you could avoid the need to exit the office to smoke?
Electronic cigarettes can be smoked in many indoor places, and don’t give off any cigarette odor or ash. They’re the perfect solution for anyone who’s had to endure evil stares from non-smoking co-workers when they leave the office to smoke.
Find out why the world is moving towards e-cigarettes.
8 Things to Consider When Choosing an Electronic Cigarette
Electronic cigarettes are rapidly becoming the cigarette of choice for many smokers today. They can be smoked in many places traditional cigarettes are banned, and smokers don’t have to worry about cigarette odors, cigarette breath, or ash.
But all electronic cigarettes are not created equal. Here are 8 things you should consider when choosing an electronic cigarette:
- Durable, Quality Batteries: The electronic cigarette battery is the lifeblood of the electronic cigarette. You should make sure that your battery is powerful enough to get you through a full day of smoking – at least 300 puffs worth.
It’s also important to make sure that the battery is durable. You’ll be keeping it in your pocket and it’s sure to take a number of bumps throughout your day.
- Ease of Use: When electronic cigarettes were first introduced to the market they utilized a 3 piece design. This design required smokers to manually refill their e-cigs with a messy smoking liquid that would frequently spill and get everywhere, staining clothing and furniture. They also contained a reusable atomizer which would clog and reduce performance with use.
Today the industry standard is the 2-piece design. This design makes replacing the e-cigarette cartridge very easy, because the cartridge comes pre-filled with smoking liquid. It also contains a fresh atomizer in each replacement, ensuring a fresh experience with each puff. To replace they cartridge, you simply need to screw off the used cartridge (cartomizer) and screw on a fresh one.
Be sure to choose an electronic cigarette that has a 2-piece design.
- Multiple Charging Options: The battery is what keeps you vaping. If you choose an electronic cigarette kit that only has a USB charger, then you’ll be out of luck when you run out of power and you’re nowhere near a computer to charge it.
Be sure to get an electronic cigarette kit that gives you multiple charging options – preferably a car adapter and a wall adapter. This pretty much guarantees that you’ll be able to charge your battery anywhere you are.
- Flavor: Let’s face it, you can certainly smoke any cigarette you want to, but the only ones that you’ll enjoy are the ones with great flavor. You might find that you like to change your flavor to match your mood or that you want to try a number of flavors until you find your favorite. The point is the more flavor options, the more likely you’ll find the best flavor for you.
Specifically regarding tobacco flavors, just like not all cigarettes have the same tobacco taste, e-cigarette flavors should also offer multiple tobacco options. Choose an e-cig company that has multiple flavors and multiple tobacco flavor options. Also choose one that’s known for their flavor.
- Cartomizer Life: This is another “usage” thing. Yes, you want to make sure you get a good flavor, but you also want that flavor to last. It’s really annoying to change your cartomizer after 50 puffs – even if you paid a cheaper price for that cartomizer.
Make sure that the cartomizers from the company you choose last a long time – at least 340 puffs per cartomizer. The more puffs per cartomizer, the longer you’ll go between changing cartomizers – and the more you’ll save because of it.
- USB Cigarette: It happens to everyone. Sometimes you just forget to charge your batteries. How are you going to enjoy your e-cigarette without a charged battery?
A USB cigarette is essentially a battery that you plug in. Sometimes called a “USB Passthrough,” these are a great way make sure that you always have power to enjoy your cigarette – even if your other batteries are charging. Just screw on a cartomizer, and plug it into a USB port and you’ll have all the power you need until your other batteries are charged.
If possible, look for an electronic cigarette kit that has a USB cigarette in it.
- High Smoke Volume: This is another thing to look for – high smoke volume. One of the little pleasures of smoking is watching the smoke escape your lips and form a cloud. Not all e-cigs are created equal in this regard. Be sure to read reviews and maybe even watch a video to make sure that the e-cig has a high smoke volume output.
- Customer Service: This is a tip that really applies to any product that you choose – e-cig or not. A good customer service team is essential for guaranteeing that you get the best experience possible. The last thing you want is to spend a lot of money on an electronic cigarette kit, find out the battery doesn’t work and then spend hours trying to reach an actual person on the phone to help you, and then being told that they won’t replace that battery.
Be sure to choose a company with reliable customer service and product guarantees. Look for lifetime warranties on products, live chat etc. A good customer service department ensures a good experience for you.
There are a number of electronic cigarette companies out there – all with different messages and different products. It’s not easy to choose the right one for you, but hopefully these 8 tips will make it easier for you to make the right choice.
Smoking Electronic Cigarettes in a Smoke-Free Apartment
New York City. The city that never sleeps.
It’s also a city that has set up some big hurdles for smokers.
This past May, New York City passed a law that forbade smoking in almost every public area in the city – including public parks.
This posed a big problem for smokers, who already weren’t allowed to smoke in bars, restaurants, stadiums or at work. Most New Yorkers also don’t have cars so that wasn’t an option as a place to smoke, and it’s illegal to smoke in cabs, buses, and other forms of public transportation.
So where can a smoker enjoy their cigarette? In their apartment? Probably not, given that most apartments in New York City are smoke-free.
Areas where a smoker can enjoy there cigarette are extremely limited.
–
Regarding the issue of apartment buildings, there are 2 main reasons why they are smoke-free: 1) Apartment owners don’t want to have their buildings smelling like smoke and 2) there’s a risk of starting a fire that comes with smoking traditional cigarettes. If a smoker falls asleep with their cigarette lit, or throws it out before it’s been completely ashed, they could burn down the entire building.
So what’s a smoker to do? Where can they enjoy their cigarette?
Well maybe the question isn’t where but more how.
If the issue isn’t the cigarettes themselves, if it’s the fire risk and odor, there’s actually a simply solution.
Green Smoke electronic cigarettes.
These cigarettes provide smokers with a great rich flavor and high smoke volume and they emit no lingering odor.
And because they’re electric, there’s no fire. Therefore they do not have the same risk of damaging an apartment like traditional cigarettes.
Green Smoke electronic cigarettes are a great alternative and any smoker who’s looking for a way out of the maze of “where can I smoke” should definitely consider electronic cigarettes as the solution to their problems.
We recommend that you check with your landlord first and explain that smoking an electronic cigarette doesn’t pose any risks. Once you’ve done that you can sit back and enjoy the cigarette in your “smoke-free” apartment!
E-Cig Mods: Cheaper Way to Smoke or Dangerous?
Electronic cigarettes have been around for a number of years now and while there are a number of reputable companies, there is a sub-culture that has also sprung up where users create their own modified electronic cigarettes or e-cig “mods”. Smoking electronic cigarettes is one of most affordable ways to smoke. By creating e-cig mods, smokers are able to bring the cost down even more.
But is it a good idea to use these e-cig mods instead of buying from an electronic cigarette company? Are there any dangers associated with them?
Electronic cigarette companies work extremely hard to give their customers an enjoyable smoking experience. Part of their product development involves vigorous testing to ensure that every product that leaves the factory is at the quality and standard that they expect.
Mods on the other hand have little, if no, safety regulations in place. Similar to lighters, customers can purchase these products cheaply online from China and easily import them in separate pieces into the country.
They then assemble them and build a modified e-cigarette.
There are a number of forums and communities online that show exactly how to create a custom mod, but all of these forums have warnings saying that these mods are to be built at the users own risk. There is no quality control on any of the products. While in many cases the modified e-cigarette will simply not work, other cases can lead to nicotine poisoning or even batteries and cartridges igniting.
And these users then have no one to answer to. They’re using unregulated products and if they injure themselves there is no one that they can complain to.
The safest bet is to simply buy your products from a reputable e-cigarette supplier. While they might be slightly more expensive then mods, they are much easier to use and are still extremely less expensive than traditional cigarettes. And you can feel assured that the company has tested that product to ensure that you are protected from any issues that might arise when using a mod.
The bottom line is that while e-cigarettes are an enjoyable alternative to traditional cigarettes, they must still be used responsibly. Buy from a reputable company, don’t go the cheaper route.
